Kirsten Thrush City of Wanneroo

Kirsten manages the Community Safety & Emergency Management service unit at the City of Wanneroo. This service unit includes rangers, parking officers, animal care officers, safety patrol officers and emergency management staff. One of Kirsten’s key responsibilities is that of Local Recovery Coordinator. Local Government has legislative responsibility for recovery within its jurisdiction and the Local Recovery Coordinator leads this process. The November 2023 Mariginiup Bushfire was a significant recovery for the City with 18 residential and 15 commercial properties assessed as total loss. 75 structures were damaged on 46 properties. The City was fortunate to receive funding from the WA government for a coordinated waste cleanup to assist properties with total loss or severe damage. Kirsten oversaw this grant and the resultant cleanup contract.
