Dr Chris Jones Australian Electric Vehicle Association

Dr Chris Jones is the current president of the Australian Electric Vehicle Association; a not-for-profit, volunteer-run organization dedicated to advancing the case for electric transport in all forms. Chris took an early interest in sustainability, helping wire up his parent’s off-grid home in Queensland in 1998. After studying chemistry and completing a PhD and research fellowship in plant biochemistry at UWA, he became interested in electric vehicles and set about building an electric motorcycle. He joined the WA branch of the AEVA, and has been fully immersed in the technology ever since. Chris currently teaches electronics, material science and physics to applied engineering students at South Metropolitan TAFE, and still builds EVs and recycles Li-ion batteries in his shed in Kalamunda.
