Emily Briggs Department of Water and Environmental Regulation

Emily Briggs is the Deputy Director General Climate and Sustainability with the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation. 

Before joining the department, Emily was an Executive Director with Pollination. She also led the UK Government’s work on emissions trading, including the development of carbon pricing options for post EU exit.

As Deputy Director General Climate and Sustainability with the department Emily is responsible for the development of the department’s long-term, integrated and big picture vision and strategies for a sustainable future that provide guidance to decision makers, set parameters for policy setting for the long term and ensure that the department is positioned well to respond to future emerging issues. 

Emily’s experience brings to her role an exceptional mix of Government, policy and technical expertise and a demonstrated ability to lead and deliver complex policy and reform agendas in dynamic and changing environments. This includes leading engagement with corporates, financial institutions and governments providing strategy, business transformation and investment advice on all aspects of delivering net zero and nature positive.
