Jacinta Thompson is an Environmental Scientist with over 20 years’ experience in State Government in Western Australia including 12 years with the Department of Water in the Kimberley region. Jacinta is passionate about water and waste management and is recognised for her ability to create connections between a variety of stakeholders for improved outcomes. She was a key driver for water licensing regulations in the Ord River Irrigation scheme, working with farmers and the Ord Irrigation Cooperative for the first ever water licences from the Ord River. Jacinta commenced with Department of Communities in 2019 to work with remote communities in the Kimberley and Pilbara on upgrading water, wastewater and municipal services including roads and waste management. With her knowledge of water and environmental management and her commitment to community-led decision making, Jacinta has created meaningful connections between State and Local Government and remote community residents for improved water and waste management as a pathway to improved living conditions in remote communities.
